If you finished your ITI and then spent years fixing machines, wiring panels or writing code in a workshop, this is probably the cleanest government job you can aim for. MP ITI Training Officer pays you to teach the exact trade you already know. No new degree. No fresh subject. Just your trade, tested properly.
The 2026 cycle is already deep in. MPESB released 1,120 posts in January, held the computer-based test between 27 February and 17 March, and declared the result on 24 July 2026. So if you're reading this now, you're either checking your scorecard or planning for the next round. Both readers are covered below.

MPESB has not put out a fresh Training Officer advertisement for the next batch. Anyone posting a "2027 notification date" right now is guessing. Watch the board's own site and our exam news page instead of WhatsApp forwards.
What the job actually is
A Training Officer is an instructor in a government ITI. You take a batch of trainees in your trade, run the theory class, and then run the practical in the workshop. Most of your day is in the workshop, not at a desk. You set up jobs, demonstrate, correct mistakes, mark practical records, and sign off trainee logbooks.
Beyond teaching, you handle the paperwork that comes with an institute. Attendance, NCVT/NSQF records, trade test arrangements, tool and equipment stock, apprenticeship coordination with local industry. Posting is anywhere in Madhya Pradesh, mostly in district and block-level ITIs. Small-town postings are common, and honestly that's where most of the vacancies sit.
The work is stable and predictable. Fixed hours, summer and winter breaks in most institutes, and very little of the field pressure you get in revenue or police jobs. If you like your trade and don't mind repeating the basics year after year, it suits you well.

Read that table carefully before you feel bad about competition. Electrician and COPA get thousands of applicants. Some smaller trades had under ten posts and correspondingly fewer serious candidates. Your real fight depends entirely on your trade, not on the 1,120 headline.
Eligibility
Age: 18 to 40 years, calculated as on 1 January 2027 for the 2026 cycle.

Education: An NCVT/SCVT ITI certificate in the relevant trade plus CITS (Craft Instructor Training Scheme) in that trade is the standard demand for most posts. For several trades a diploma or a BE/B.Tech in the related engineering branch is accepted, sometimes with relaxed CITS conditions. For the Mathematics/Drawing post, the demand is a degree or diploma with the relevant subject background. Check the trade-wise qualification chart in the official advertisement, because it genuinely differs post to post.
Domicile: Anyone can apply, but reservation benefits, the lower fee and the extra age relaxation go only to Madhya Pradesh domicile holders. Non-MP candidates are treated as unreserved.
Physical standards: None. There's no running, no height or chest measurement. A basic medical fitness check comes at the appointment stage.

Steps to apply:
- Register on esb.mponline.gov.in and get your profile number.
- Open the ITI Training Officer form and pick your trade carefully. One form, one trade.
- Fill personal, category and qualification details exactly as they appear on your certificates.
- Upload photo and signature in the given size.
- Pay through net banking, card or UPI.
- Save the PDF and the payment receipt. You'll need both later.
The most common blunder here is choosing the wrong trade code in a hurry. Correction costs money and closes fast.
Exam pattern
One stage decides almost everything. The CBT is objective, bilingual (Hindi and English), and there is no negative marking, so leave nothing blank.

Duration is 2 hours. After the CBT come document verification and a medical check, then the final merit list. Your CBT score is what carries you, so treat the general portion as free marks rather than a separate war.
Detailed syllabus
Part A: Trade subject (75 marks)
This is the whole exam, effectively. The paper follows the NCVT syllabus of your trade for both years, plus the workshop calculation and science that goes with it. So for an Electrician you get wiring systems, earthing, transformers, DC machines, AC motors, measuring instruments, cables, illumination, batteries, protection devices, and basic electronics. For a Fitter it's fitting operations, measurement and gauges, drilling, grinding, fits and tolerances, sheet metal, welding basics and power transmission. For COPA it's operating systems, MS Office, networking, internet and web design, DBMS, and basic programming logic.
Whatever your trade, work straight from the NIMI books and the official NCVT syllabus. That's what the paper is built from. Add trade theory, workshop calculation and science, and engineering drawing for your trade.
Part B: Science and Mathematics
Class 10 level only. Percentage, ratio and proportion, average, profit and loss, simple and compound interest, time and work, time speed distance, mensuration, and simple algebra. Science covers units and measurements, force and motion, work power energy, heat, light, electricity and magnetism, and basic chemistry like acids, bases, salts and metals. Part C: General Knowledge
Indian history, polity, geography, economy basics, and a solid dose of Madhya Pradesh GK. MP districts, rivers, national parks, tribes, folk dance, festivals, major schemes and recent state appointments come up regularly. Five questions only, so read smart. Part D: Reasoning
Series, analogy, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, odd one out, ranking, statement and conclusion. Easy level. Half an hour a week on the Reasoning guide keeps you sharp.
Part E: Basic Computer
Parts of a computer, input and output devices, memory types, operating systems, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint basics, internet and email, shortcut keys, and common file extensions. COPA candidates get these five almost free.
Salary and career growth
The pay scale for Training Officer runs from Rs. 32,800 to Rs. 1,03,600 in the MP pay matrix.

During probation you're usually on a fixed stipendiary pay for the first two to three years under MP rules, which is lower. That's worth knowing before you plan a home loan in your first year.
Growth goes Training Officer, then Group Instructor or Head of Department for your trade, then Principal of an ITI, and further into the Directorate of Skill Development for a few. Promotions run on seniority plus departmental rules, so they're slow but certain. Pension is under NPS, plus gratuity and standard leave benefits.
Cut-off
MPESB has not published a category-wise cut-off sheet for this recruitment. The qualifying line appears on each candidate's own scorecard, and any "official cut-off list" floating on Telegram is somebody's estimate.

Treat qualifying marks and selection marks as two different things. In a heavy trade like Electrician or COPA, clearing 40% gets you nowhere near the merit list. Aim for 70+ out of 100 if your trade has hundreds of applicants.
Books and preparation plan
Start with NIMI trade theory and workshop calculation books for your trade, both years. Then the official NCVT syllabus PDF as a checklist. Add a CITS-level reference for your trade, and any standard MP GK book by a state publisher.
Month 1: Finish first-year trade theory. One full pass, notes as you go. Ten minutes daily on MP GK.
Month 2: Second-year trade theory plus workshop calculation and science. Start solving trade MCQs daily, at least 50 a day.
Month 3: Revision plus the 25 non-trade marks. Do a topic-wise practice set every alternate day for maths, reasoning and computer.
Final three weeks: Full mocks only. Take at least ten timed papers from the free mock test series, review every wrong answer, and rebuild weak chapters. A structured study plan helps if you're working a job alongside.

Honest advice and common mistakes
People fail this paper for boring reasons. They treat their ITI as enough and skip revision, then discover the questions come from chapters they last opened five years ago. Practical skill and MCQ recall are not the same thing.
The second mistake is spending weeks on GK and reasoning. Those are 10 marks combined. Seventy-five marks sit in your trade. Fix your ratio.
Third, people leave questions blank. There's no negative marking. Every blank is a wasted chance.
And if you have CITS, you're already ahead of most of the field. If you don't, get it. It's the single biggest gap that pushes otherwise strong candidates out.
If your trade is Electrician, COPA or Fitter, be realistic. Hundreds of posts, thousands of candidates, and a paper where a lot of people score well. Keep a parallel option running. Candidates from a technical background often prepare SSC CGL or RRB NTPC alongside, and RRB Group D suits ITI holders directly.
FAQ
Is CITS compulsory? For most trades, yes. Some trades accept a diploma or degree instead. Check the trade-wise chart in the advertisement.
Is there negative marking? No. Attempt all 100 questions.
Can I apply for two trades? No. One application, one trade.
Can candidates from outside MP apply? Yes, but you're treated as unreserved and pay the higher fee, with no age relaxation.
In which language is the paper set? Hindi and English, side by side.
What is the minimum qualifying mark? Broadly 40% for unreserved and 30% for MP reserved categories, as per MPESB norms.
Is there an interview? No. Document verification and a medical check after the CBT, nothing more.

When is the next notification? Not announced. MPESB usually publishes its yearly calendar first, so watch that.
Is the salary good for an ITI holder? Yes. Around Rs. 42,000 to Rs. 48,000 in hand after probation, with a teaching schedule, is a strong deal for this qualification level.

Final word
This exam rewards people who actually know their trade. That's rare and it's a good thing. If you've done the CITS and you're willing to put ten weeks into NIMI books and MCQ practice, your odds here are far better than in any general competitive exam where you fight the whole state.
Check your scorecard if you sat the February round, and keep your certificates ready for document verification. If you missed this cycle, the syllabus doesn't change much year to year. Start on your trade theory now and you'll be sitting comfortable whenever the next advertisement lands.
