PATNA, October 10 — The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on Saturday issued an official corrigendum expanding the aggregate sanctioned vacancy matrix for the 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) to 1,280 gazetted administrative posts following supplementary requisitions received from the General Administration Department on its portal (bpsc.bih.nic.in).
The augmented post roster encompasses 88 vacancies in the Bihar Administrative Service (Sub-Divisional Officer / Deputy Collector), 62 posts in the Bihar Police Service (Deputy Superintendent of Police), alongside substantial allocations for Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Block Development Officer (BDO), Rural Development Officer, and Revenue Officer cadres across Pay Levels 7 and 9.
The single-shift offline Preliminary Examination is scheduled for late November 2026 across designated centers in all 38 districts of Bihar. The screening test features a single 150-mark General Studies paper of two hours duration with a strict 1/3rd mark negative deduction per incorrect answer. Candidates clearing category cutoffs at a 10-times ratio will advance to the descriptive Main Examination (comprising General Hindi, GS Paper-I, GS Paper-II, a dedicated 300-mark Essay paper, and a qualifying Optional paper).
State civil service recruitment rules, the historical legacy of Bihar (Magadha Empire, Buddhism/Jainism councils, Champaran Satyagraha of 1917), agro-climatic zones of the Gangetic plains, and Bihar Economic Survey fiscal indicators are foundational domains for BPSC 72nd CCE, BPSC TRE, and CDPO aspirants.
