NEW DELHI, October 10 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Saturday notified the comprehensive Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination schedule for the recruitment of over 45,000 Constable (General Duty) personnel across Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs—BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, and SSB), Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on its portal (ssc.gov.in).
Executing a landmark linguistic inclusion mandate from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the nationwide digital examination—slated for January-February 2027—will be administered in 13 regional Indian languages (Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu) in addition to Hindi and English, dramatically expanding grassroots representation for youth across non-Hindi-speaking states.
The 60-minute computer-based screening test comprises 80 multiple-choice questions carrying 160 aggregate marks across four equal 20-question modules: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi Language, with a 0.25 mark negative penalty per incorrect answer. Shortlisted candidates will advance to the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), requiring male candidates to complete a 5-kilometer road run within 24 minutes.
The organizational mandates of Central Armed Police Forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the dual administrative-operational control of Assam Rifles (MHA and Indian Army), the statutory foundation of the Narcotics Control Bureau under the NDPS Act 1985 (aligned with Article 47 of DPSP), and Eighth Schedule constitutional languages are critical study areas for SSC GD, State Police, and CAPF aspirants.
