MPESB ran a Group 4 recruitment in 2026 for around 2,500 Assistant Grade 3, Steno Typist and DEO posts across state departments, with applications closing in early April 2026 and the exam date still unannounced. Assistant Grade 3 is the clerical backbone of the Vidhan Sabha Secretariat in Bhopal. You handle files, draft routine noting, type Hindi correspondence, maintain records of questions asked by MLAs, help prepare committee papers, and manage the paperwork that keeps a House session running.

Education
You need Class 12 pass, or first year of graduation completed, from a recognised board or university. On top of that:
- A one-year diploma or certificate in computer application from a recognised institution
- A valid CPCT scorecard (Computer Proficiency and Certification Test, run by MAP_IT at cpct.mp.gov.in)
- Hindi typing proficiency on computer
The CPCT is the gatekeeper. No scorecard, no application. It's held several times a year, the score stays valid for a fixed period, and you can reattempt to improve it. If you don't have one, that's your first task, not your last.
Domicile
MP domicile is not compulsory to apply, but reservation and age relaxation apply only to MP natives. Outside candidates compete in the unreserved pool at full fee and full age bar. Practically, that makes it an MP candidate's exam.

Probation is three years. Growth goes Assistant Grade 3 to Assistant Grade 2 to Assistant Grade 1, then Head Assistant or Section Officer level with time and departmental exams. Ignoring typing until the written result comes out is the number one mistake. The skill test carries 50 marks. Candidates who clear the written and then get four weeks to learn Hindi typing simply lose to people who've been typing for a year.
Second, chasing national-level GK. This paper is MP-focused. Reading two hours of Indian polity daily won't help as much as one hour of MP polity.
Third, treating a 40-post exam as your only plan. It isn't a plan, it's a lottery ticket with good odds only if you're already strong. Prepare in parallel for MPESB Group 4, MP Patwari, and central exams like SSC CHSL and RRB NTPC, where the syllabus overlap is large and the seats are far more.
