Groundnut is an oilseed, and AP State Seeds records its cultivation in both Kharif and Rabi seasons. Ananthapuramu district's agriculture page lists it among the district's crops. AP's Food Processing Policy also identifies Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai among groundnut-related districts. This is a defensible dryland-region association, not a claim that every field in those districts grows groundnut or that there is no irrigated groundnut elsewhere.
The crop's seed and pod production are affected by rainfall timing, soil moisture and local management. Groundnut can be intercropped with a pulse in some practices; the AP Agriculture Department gives groundnut–redgram examples. A market-value question may link oil extraction, seed, haulms and processing, but these are uses rather than separate botanical crop classes. A crop map should mark the southern association with a point or broad hatched study zone, not an exact annual acreage polygon without data.
Worked example: Groundnut is an oilseed associated with dryland AP regions, especially Rayalaseema in many studies. It still needs moisture at critical growth stages and can suffer from prolonged drought. A map showing an Anantapuramu-region example does not mean no coastal farmer grows it. For crop-class questions, answer oilseed; for current district rankings, use a dated official crop table.
Active recall: Classify groundnut and name one official AP district association. Why is “only grown there” false?
