AP State Seeds describes rice as a principal food crop and identifies paddy cultivation in both Kharif and Rabi. Krishna district's agriculture page likewise describes abundant paddy. The crop depends on seed, field preparation, water control, plant protection and post-harvest handling. Paddy is the plant and harvested grain; rice is the processed edible grain. A question may use the terms casually, but the distinction helps explain why milling and procurement occur after harvest.
Older AP State Seeds material refers to thirteen districts and names East/West Godavari and Krishna as major producing regions. Those names belong to that page's administrative vintage, not necessarily the current district count. The durable geography is the irrigated Godavari–Krishna coastal belt, with paddy also grown elsewhere. Avoid an undated claim that one present district ranks first in every year; area, production and productivity are different measures.
Worked example: Paddy is a major AP food crop, yet an exam may ask for area, grain output or yield. Those are three separate numbers. Yield is production divided by area, with consistent units. A district may have large production because its planted area is large, not because each hectare is unusually productive. Use the agricultural department's dated season table for any numerical ranking.
Active recall: Give paddy's crop class, two seasons in AP and one irrigated regional association.
