30 | Krishna irrigation and canal command

Krishna district's irrigation-circle page discusses the Krishna delta system, Nagarjuna Sagar Project canals and other works. The river flows from inland toward the Bay of Bengal; barrage and canal structures regulate and distribute water to agricultural command areas. A headwork's location and the fields it serves may be in different districts. Thus “project district” is not necessarily “all beneficiary districts.”

The official page gives ayacut figures and work statuses at its own publication date. These may change after a new lining work, canal connection or revised accounting. For an SI/Constable question, the stable pairs are Krishna–Prakasam Barrage and Krishna–Nagarjuna Sagar. Do not mix these with Polavaram's Godavari site. A river map should be read from source to coast, while a project question should ask whether the structure stores, diverts, pumps or conveys water.

Worked example: A Krishna canal begins at a diversion structure and travels through a command area. Upstream reservoir storage and downstream barrage diversion have different functions. If an option calls Prakasam Barrage a large storage dam, classify the structure before choosing. A tail-end delivery complaint also cannot be resolved by the river name alone; it needs the canal schedule and local record.

Active recall: Which two named works in this volume are part of the Krishna irrigation story?
