34 | Polavaram: Godavari project and status caution

Polavaram is a major project on the Godavari river. The West Godavari district portal carries a Polavaram irrigation-project entry, while other state and central records address its statutory and implementation details. The river link is a stable exam pair. The work's precise completion percentage, cost, rehabilitation count or seasonal water delivery is time-sensitive and must come from a current official report dated for the claim.

Polavaram also appears in the AP Reorganisation Act story, covered in an earlier volume. Legal national-project provisions, construction progress and actually irrigated area are three different things. A legal designation does not prove every component is complete. A canal may be excavated, connected, tested or supplying water at different dates. In an MCQ, select “Godavari” for the river; reject an option that describes a policy target as an achieved supply without an implementation record.

Worked example: Polavaram is on the Godavari and has national-project status under the Reorganisation Act. That legal status does not certify that construction, canals and rehabilitation are all complete. For agriculture, a proposed ayacut is not actual irrigated crop area. When a current-affairs item gives a completion percentage, ask which component, date and reporting authority it covers.

Active recall: Separate Polavaram's river, legal context and construction status into three statements.

Match each project to its source river and physical function. A legal national-project status is not a completion report.

Current district geometry: APSDMA. Crop and irrigation claims: credited agriculture and water-authority sources.
