NEW DELHI, August 5 — The Central Government informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that it is actively considering a proposal to transition the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) to a two-stage computer-based test (CBT) to prevent future paper leaks.
Under the proposed reform, the medical entrance exam will feature a Preliminary screening exam followed by a descriptive Main exam, moving away from the single-day pen-and-paper OMR format. The transition to CBT aims to improve database security, biometric verification, and digital audit systems at all exam centres.
The Ministry of Education is coordinating with technical committees to finalize the infrastructure requirements for conducting multi-session computer-based tests for over 20 lakh candidates.
