NEW DELHI, September 15 — State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) to collaborate on scalable bioenergy solutions and compressed biogas (CBG) development.
The strategic partnership aims to establish framework models for agricultural waste utilization, bio-slurry management, and carbon accounting across municipal and rural bioenergy plants. The joint initiative supports India's National Biofuels Policy targets to increase biofuel blending and reduce crude import dependency.
Energy experts noted that converting agricultural residue into CBG will simultaneously tackle seasonal stubble burning and boost rural energy self-reliance.
