NEW DELHI, September 15 — The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas launched the Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) Connection Incentive Scheme on Tuesday to accelerate household gas coverage across urban and semi-urban areas.
The financial incentive scheme supports City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities in converting unbilled connections into active, metered domestic PNG connections. The initiative seeks to expand household pipeline gas access, lower liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) subsidy burdens, and enhance urban cooking gas safety.
Petroleum Ministry officials stated that the scheme will support India's target of raising natural gas share in the primary energy mix to 15% by 2030.
