NEW DELHI, October 4 — Senior 1992-batch AGMUT-cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Satish Golchha has formally assumed charge as the Director General (DG) of Delhi Home Guards, following official notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor's Secretariat.
Prior to his current assignment, Golchha served in critical apex operational roles within Delhi Police, including Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) and Director General of Delhi Prisons (Tihar Jail). His tenure across the national capital territory is marked by extensive operational management during major security contingencies, high-profile administrative reorganizations, and technological modernization of prison surveillance networks.
Upon taking charge, Director General Golchha reaffirmed commitments to revamp training curriculums for the volunteer auxiliary force, strengthen integration with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS - 112), and streamline deployment rosters ahead of regional security deployments.
Police administrative leadership, auxiliary security apparatus, and constitutional frameworks governing Union Territories are regular features of SSC CPO, CAPF AC, and Delhi judicial examinations. Candidates should remember that the Home Guards were originally raised in India in December 1946 in Bombay as a voluntary citizen auxiliary force to support civil police during communal disturbances and natural disasters under respective state Home Guard Acts.
