NEW DELHI, October 15 — The Ministry of Railways on Thursday officially flagged off commercial passenger operations of the advanced indigenously manufactured 'Amrit Bharat Express' on the high-density Patna–New Delhi railway route, bringing premium, semi-high-speed affordable travel to non-air-conditioned rail travelers.
Engineered through collaborative design between Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, the train utilizes an aerodynamic 'Push-Pull' configuration featuring dual WAP-5 6,000 HP electric locomotives at both ends. This synchronized dual-traction setup drastically improves acceleration curves, trimming intercity transit duration by over 2.5 hours across the corridor.
Railway mechanical engineers highlighted that the 22-coach consist integrates jerk-free semi-permanent draft gears, ergonomically contoured seating, individual USB power ports, sealed vestibules, modular vacuum bio-toilets, and full operational integration with the indigenous 'Kavach' Automatic Train Protection (ATP) architecture.
The technical lineage of Indian Railways production units (ICF Chennai, CLW Chittaranjan, RCF Kapurthala), the comparative mechanics between Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) and conventional ICF rakes, push-pull dual traction thermodynamics, and the deployment of Kavach safety systems represent essential topics across RRB, SSC, and State Public Service competitive examinations.
