NEW DELHI, October 1 — The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday published the comprehensive examination timetable and annual calendar roadmap for the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination (CGSE) 2027 on its official website upsc.gov.in.
According to the Commission's notification, the preliminary objective computer-based test will take place nationwide on the third Sunday of February 2027 across designated metropolitan centers. Candidates qualifying the preliminary hurdle will proceed to the multi-session descriptive Stage-II Mains examination scheduled for June 2027.
The Combined Geo-Scientist Examination serves as the premier national conduit for selecting Group 'A' gazetted technical specialists for the Geological Survey of India (GSI) under the Ministry of Mines and the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti across specialized cadres of Geologists, Geophysicists, Chemists, and Hydrogeologists.
The constitutional status and powers of the UPSC under Articles 315 through 323 of the Constitution, the historical mandate of the Geological Survey of India (established in 1851, headquartered in Kolkata), and groundwater regulatory frameworks under CGWB represent fundamental institutional knowledge for civil services and scientific service aspirants.
