AP Minerals, Industries, SEZs and Ports · Chapter 25
24 | Apparel, textiles and footwear

AP's industrial mix includes textiles, apparel and footwear. APIIC and Department of Commerce lists identify Brandix India Apparel City in the Visakhapatnam/Atchutapuram area as a textile or apparel SEZ. A central SEZ list can use an older district label even when today's map places the relevant locality in Anakapalli district. A factory's sector, developer and geographic label are separate columns.

Cotton from farming may feed textile manufacturing, but a garment unit can buy yarn or fabric from outside AP; location alone does not prove its supply chain. Leather and footwear SEZ entries occur in the southern coastal belt in official lists. An MCQ about Brandix should identify apparel/textiles, not steel or port administration. An SEZ status does not mean every acre within its notified boundary is occupied. The updated operational list is the source for live status, while a notification list proves legal notification.

Worked example: Apparel, textiles and footwear all use labour-intensive manufacturing but have different inputs and product classifications. A park announced for apparel may later contain firms at different stages. A current SEZ or industrial-cluster list tells you its status; a policy's intended jobs are targets. Do not report projected employment as counted workers.

Active recall: Pair Brandix with its broad sector and explain why older Visakhapatnam labels need a current-district check.
