32 | Kakinada SEZ and industrial setting

The Department of Commerce's notified and operational lists include Kakinada-linked SEZ entries, including a multi-product Kakinada SEZ. Kakinada's district industry profile also lists fertilisers, chemicals, rice, paper and edible-oil packing. A formal SEZ and the surrounding district's industries are different scopes. Not every Kakinada factory lies inside the notified parcel, and not every cargo item at Kakinada port originates from its SEZ.

Original SEZ notification entries refer to former East Godavari geography; Kakinada district was created later. The legal site and its central-list name should be preserved when quoting notification history. A present map should use today's district outline. A question asking whether a site is operational needs the dated operational list rather than the old notification list. Avoid treating “Kakinada Anchorage” and “Kakinada Deep Water” as one identical berth or cargo statistic.

Worked example: Kakinada SEZ belongs to a coastal industrial setting. The words 'SEZ' in a company's name do not by themselves reveal the officially notified or operational area on a given date. Check the Department of Commerce list and APIIC records. A port nearby may be a logistics advantage but does not make the whole port a SEZ parcel.

Active recall: Name Kakinada SEZ's broad sector and two other industrial activities in the district.
