06 | Mangampeta: Annamayya now, Kadapa in older books

Mangampeta or Mangampet appears in older YSR Kadapa district pages because its locality lay in that district before the 2022 reorganisation. The Annamayya District Survey Report 2023 locates the barytes deposit in Koduru mandal, Annamayya district. Both descriptions can be historically intelligible. A present-district question should use current Annamayya; a question quoting an older text should retain its period rather than declaring the historic line wrong.

This is a model AP map trap. Some national mineral yearbooks still use “Cuddapah” for the old district, and spellings vary between Kadapa, Cuddapah, Mangampet and Mangampeta. The mineral does not move when the administrative label changes. Put the site point on the present map and annotate “older YSR Kadapa/Cuddapah” in the legend. Do not infer that every mineral number in the old district page has been recalculated for today's smaller Kadapa district.

Worked example: Mangampeta appears under older Kadapa or YSR Kadapa descriptions and on a current Annamayya district source. The mineral did not move when administrative borders changed. If the stem says 'currently', use the newer district map; if it quotes an old survey, preserve the old label. Keep place identity and administrative date separate in revision notes.

Active recall: What is Mangampeta's current district and what older district name may appear in reference material?
