AP Minerals, Industries, SEZs and Ports · Chapter 43
42 | Inland map: minerals, plants and SEZs

The mineral and industry maps can be overlaid mentally but not equated. Mangampeta barytes lies in the southern inland area; Chimakurthy granite is in the Prakasam-region interior; Visakhapatnam steel and shipbuilding are on the north coast; Sri City lies in the southern border corridor. A mineral's closest major city need not be its processing or export city.

Three map symbols make this explicit: an ore/mineral occurrence, a factory or industrial centre, and a legal SEZ. Polygons would be needed to show actual mine leases or notified SEZ extents, but the book gives sourced points so candidates can orient quickly. Older Kadapa, Chittoor and Visakhapatnam district labels in national records are retained as historical aliases, not silently copied onto today's districts. The map can prevent a wrong directional swap; the source text supplies the exact legal and production claim.

Worked example: On an inland map, pair Mangampeta with barytes, Chimakurthy with granite and Yerraguntla with the limestone-cement chain. Then place Sri City as an industrial corridor, not a mineral deposit. Current district names and older survey labels may differ. A point marks a study anchor, not the entire orebody, lease or industrial parcel.

Active recall: Pair Mangampeta, Chimakurthy, Visakhapatnam and Sri City with their different map-symbol meanings.
