An aspirant in Ongole, Kavali, Bapatla or Nellore usually asks the same set of questions. Which recruiters actually hire in my area? Am I local, and for which posts? Which exam centre will I be given? Is a space-centre or railway job realistic from here, or only a State job? The answers are scattered over district portals, Government Orders, Gazette notices and recruiter websites, and the district map itself changed on 31 December 2025, which makes old notes unreliable.

This guide collects the answers for the southern part of the coastal belt: Prakasam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Bapatla and the districts next to them. It reads the 2025 Presidential Order on local cadres from the Government Order that republishes its schedule, explains what the 95:5 rule means for a candidate from this area, lists the State, district-level, Central and public-sector employers, and ends with a preparation method. Time-sensitive points carry "As on October 2026" and the source. Where something could not be confirmed from an official page, the text says so instead of guessing.

For the statewide picture read the Andhra Pradesh government exams 2026 guide and the government jobs calendar. For the full reservation machinery read the reservation, roster and local status guide. The Telugu version of this post is at దక్షిణ కోస్తా ఆంధ్ర ప్రభుత్వ ఉద్యోగాలు.

1. What "South Coastal Andhra" means, and what the law calls it

"South Coastal Andhra" is a geographical phrase from textbooks and newspapers. It is not a legal unit. No Government Order divides jobs into a unit with that name, so the first job is to translate the phrase into the units that recruiters actually use: the district, the zone and the multi-zone.

As on October 2026, the units come from the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment (Organisation of Local Cadres and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) Order, 2025, published in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) on 15 December 2025 and republished by the State on 20 April 2026. G.O.Ms.No.54 of the General Administration (SPF and MC) Department, dated 14 May 2026, reproduces its Schedule. The Schedule groups 26 districts into six zones and two multi-zones.

Multi-zone Zone Districts as printed in the Schedule
Multi-Zone I Zone I Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli
Multi-Zone I Zone II Alluri Sitarama Raju, East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema
Multi-Zone I Zone III West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Krishna
Multi-Zone II Zone IV Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore
Multi-Zone II Zone V Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR Kadapa
Multi-Zone II Zone VI Nandyal, Ananthapuramu, Kurnool, Sri Sathya Sai

The districts that make up the south coast in common speech are therefore split between two zones. Prakasam, Bapatla and Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore are in Zone IV along with Guntur and Palnadu, and Zone IV belongs to Multi-Zone II. The southernmost coastal district, Tirupati, which includes the Sriharikota barrier island, is in Zone V. A candidate who is local to Nellore is therefore local to Zone IV and to Multi-Zone II, but not to Zone V as such, even though Zones IV and V share the same multi-zone.

Two districts need separate care. Markapuram district, carved mostly out of western Prakasam, and Polavaram district were notified from 31 December 2025, after the Presidential Order was made. The Schedule lists 26 districts and does not name them. G.O.Ms.No.46 dated 6 July 2026, which gives guidelines on strength of local cadres, says that posts are to be provisionally allocated to these two districts until they are formally brought within the Order. So for a Markapuram resident, the position in each notification is what counts. Read how the notification places the district rather than assuming it behaves like Prakasam.

The Order also exempts some posts from local-cadre organisation altogether: posts in the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat, offices of Heads of Departments, special offices, State-level offices and institutions, and police posts in a Commissionerate located in the capital area. A State-level post is open to candidates from every district irrespective of where they studied.

2. The districts at a glance, and why portals disagree

The table below summarises what the official district portals showed for this belt in October 2026. It is deliberately labelled as portal information, because the reorganisation changed several unit boundaries and not every portal has been refreshed.

District Headquarters Revenue divisions and mandals as shown Other portal facts
Prakasam Ongole Three divisions (Ongole, Kandukuru, Addanki); 28 mandals 1 municipal corporation (Ongole), 2 nagar panchayats (Chimakurthy and Darsi), 734 gram panchayats
Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore Nellore Portal shows 4 divisions (Atmakur, Kandukur, Nellore, Kavali); 36 mandals Area 10,440 sq km; 163 km coastline; 722 gram panchayats
Bapatla Bapatla Portal shows 25 mandals 74 km coastline; created 26 January 2022
Markapuram Markapuram Formed 31 December 2025 from western Prakasam Segments listed by its portal: Yerragondapalem, Giddalur, Kanigiri, Markapuram

Notice a conflict inside this table. The Nellore portal still lists a Kandukur revenue division. The Prakasam portal states that Prakasam consists of the Ongole, Kandukuru and Addanki divisions with 28 mandals. A news report on the reorganisation lists Kandukur among the constituencies moved from Nellore to Prakasam, and a Wikipedia entry on the Kandukur division says it reverted to Prakasam on 31 December 2025 with seven mandals. Wikipedia also describes a Gudur division of three mandals (Chillakur, Gudur and Kota) now sitting in Nellore, but that comes from a secondary source and was not found on the Nellore portal. The Nellore mandal total of 36 is quoted by both the portal and Wikipedia, while the list of divisions behind it differs.

What should an aspirant do with this? The practical rule is the same as in the district fact sheet: do not memorise mandal totals, and when a question or form depends on whether a place is in Prakasam or Nellore, use the date in the question. Kandukur is a Prakasam town from 31 December 2025 and was a Nellore town from 4 April 2022 to that date. Before 2022 it was in Prakasam as well, so older books and older certificates may disagree with each other for good reasons.

3. State recruiters that hire for these districts

Most government jobs reachable from this belt are State jobs. They are organised by cadre, and the cadre tells you which area you must be local to. The Order's classification, as reproduced in G.O.Ms.No.54, is the starting point.

Cadre Posts covered Local area for a Prakasam, Nellore or Bapatla candidate
District cadre Junior Assistant and equivalent, all posts below it, and School Education Subordinate Service and similar teacher posts The candidate's own district
Zonal cadre Above Junior Assistant up to Superintendent, and the first-level gazetted post in each department Zone IV
Multi-zonal cadre Above those levels up to Deputy Collector or equivalent Multi-Zone II (Zones IV, V and VI)

Within that structure, the recruiters you will meet are these.

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). It recruits gazetted and many non-gazetted posts through Groups I to IV and departmental notifications. Its Group-I Notification 07/2026 (brief notification of 15 September 2026, detailed notification of 6 October 2026) shows how the new map works for a real exam. Posts are organised into Multi-Zone I and Multi-Zone II, so a Nellore candidate competes for local vacancies in Multi-Zone II. The Assistant Audit Officer post is organised by zone and shows two vacancies in Zone IV. The screening test is on 24 January 2027, as reported in our Group-I notification explainer. The Commission's OTPR now records school-by-school study details to compute your district, zone and multi-zone; see the OTPR update guide.

State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB). It recruits Stipendiary Cadet Trainee police constables, sub-inspectors, firemen and warders. The Board's website listed notifications of September 2026 and a help desk for queries. Our police recruitment 2026 update reads the two main notifications line by line. Police posts in a Commissionerate in the capital area are exempt from local cadres, but other police posts follow the zone rules stated in each notification.

School Education and the DSC. Teacher posts are district cadre. A Nellore candidate for a Secondary Grade Teacher post is therefore local to Nellore district for the 95 per cent block, subject to what the notification prints about the reorganised districts. See the DSC 2026 notification guide, the SGT guide and the School Assistant guide.

Revenue, Panchayat Raj and the village offices. Village-level posts sit in the Swarna Gramam and Swarna Wardu structure that Act 17 of 2026 renamed. The Panchayat Secretary guide and the VRO and VRA guide explain which department recruits for which functionary and when the last notifications were issued.

Health, medical and paramedical posts. District Medical and Health offices, teaching hospitals and the health directorates recruit nurses, laboratory technicians, pharmacists and paramedical staff. Notifications are often issued at the district level and are dated, short and detailed, so they are covered separately: staff nurse, lab technician, pharmacist and paramedical posts.

Municipal and urban posts. Ongole and Nellore each have a municipal corporation (the district portals say so), and the belt also has municipalities and nagar panchayats. The route and the cadre of each municipal post are stated in the notification, so check which authority recruits. See the Municipal Junior Assistant guide.

Police-adjacent services. Fire services, prisons and the excise department recruit through the Board or the department, and their guides are fire services, jail warder and excise constable.

Transport, power and other bodies. APSRTC has depots across the belt. The power utilities recruit junior linemen and engineers; the Southern Power Distribution Company's own website shows Ongole and Nellore among its circles, and the power utilities guide covers eligibility. Which distribution company serves a given circle is a detail for the notification to confirm.

The judiciary. The High Court recruits district-court staff and judicial officers; see the judicial service guide and the High Court Assistant guide.

4. The 95:5 rule, in plain language

The Presidential Order of 2025 changed how much of direct recruitment goes to local candidates. Under the superseded 1975 Order, the provisional list was split 70:30 between local candidates and an open pool. Under the 2025 Order, 95 per cent of posts in a local cadre are reserved for local candidates of that area, and 5 per cent are open to a combined merit list of local and non-local candidates. The Order also requires at least one post to be left unreserved, and unfilled local posts can be carried forward for up to three years, as summarised in our local status guide.

How it works for a candidate depends on the cadre. Suppose a notification invites applications for 20 posts in a multi-zone. Then 1 post (5 per cent) comes from the combined list and 19 (95 per cent) come from the local list of that multi-zone. A candidate who is local to that multi-zone can be selected in either block; a non-local candidate can be selected only in the combined 5 per cent block. A very high score therefore helps a non-local candidate far less than it used to, and local status becomes a strategic fact about a profile, not a footnote.

Two rules decide who is local. As printed in the Group-I notification, a candidate is local to an area if he or she studied there for at least four consecutive academic years up to and including the year of the Class VII examination. If the candidate did not study in an institution during that period, residence there counts. If neither test gives an answer, the area where the candidate spent the most years in the seven-year period is taken. Study certificates are required for Class I to VII, and a residence certificate from a revenue officer of the rank stated in the notification is accepted only when the candidate did not study in an institution. Migrants from Telangana between 2 June 2014 and 1 June 2024 must obtain a local-status certificate as the notification directs.

Worked examples

The following are illustrations of how the rule reads, not a decision about any candidate. The notification of the particular post is the final word.

  1. A candidate studied Classes I to VII in Ongole and then did a degree in Hyderabad. The four years ending with Class VII fall in Prakasam. The candidate is local to Prakasam district for district-cadre posts, to Zone IV for zonal posts and to Multi-Zone II for multi-zonal posts.
  2. A candidate studied Classes I to III in Nellore and Classes IV to VII in Guntur. The last four consecutive years fall in Guntur district. That candidate is local to Guntur district, not Nellore district, for a district-cadre post, but is still local to Zone IV and Multi-Zone II because both districts are in Zone IV.
  3. A candidate from Kavali studied Classes IV to VII in Tirupati. The four-year block ending with Class VII falls in Tirupati district, which is in Zone V. The candidate is local to Tirupati for district posts, to Zone V for zonal posts and to Multi-Zone II for multi-zonal posts. For a Zone IV zonal post, such as an Assistant Audit Officer vacancy reserved for Zone IV, the candidate is not local.
  4. A candidate from Markapuram studied Classes I to VII in what was then Prakasam district. Whether this makes the candidate local to Markapuram district, to Prakasam district or to both for district-cadre posts depends on how the notification treats the two new districts under G.O.Ms.No.46. Read the notification and ask the Commission or the recruiting board if it is silent.

Because the four-year rule runs through Class VII, a move after Class VII does not change local status. A move before the four-year block, for example after Class III, can. This is why families that relocate during primary school should keep every study certificate.

5. Certificates and the profile: avoid the errors that cost applicants

Local status is proved by paper. Keep the following ready before a notification appears.

  • Study certificates for Classes I to VII from the institutions attended, with place and period.
  • A residence certificate only for the period when you did not study in an institution, issued by an officer of the rank the notification names.
  • Community certificate and, where relevant, non-creamy-layer and EWS certificates in the format and date window the notification states. The Group-I notification asked for BC and EWS certificates issued on or after 1 April 2026.
  • The OTPR profile, updated from 30 September 2026 as the Commission's web note of 29 September 2026 asked, with every school entered in order.

A frequent error is to copy the present district into the form because the school is now in a different district. The Order works with the district in force for the cadre, but the study certificate shows where the school was and the notification explains how reorganised units are treated. When your school's mandal moved between districts in 2022 or on 31 December 2025, check the notification before choosing an answer.

6. District portals and where notices appear

Every district publishes recruitment notices for its own district-level posts. The portals of this belt are prakasam.ap.gov.in, spsnellore.ap.gov.in, bapatla.ap.gov.in and markapuram.ap.gov.in. When opened in October 2026 the Prakasam portal showed no active recruitment postings, and the Bapatla portal had a notices section for tenders, announcements and recruitments but nothing displayed at the time. That is normal: district notices come in bursts, usually after a Government Order sanctions posts.

Use the portals in three ways. First, as a notice board for outsourcing, contract and district-selection-committee posts that never appear in the Commission's list. Second, as the reference for district profile data in exam questions, with the caution about stale pages in section 2. Third, as a link to the district-level offices that issue certificates, for example the Mandal Revenue Officer for community and residence certificates.

A district notice has a pattern worth learning. It names the post, the department, the roster category, the educational qualification, the age range and the last date. It also names a local selection committee and usually says that only candidates local to the district may apply. Because the Presidential Order treats posts at Junior Assistant level and below as district cadre, a district notice is the place where local status is applied first and most strictly.

7. Central and public-sector employers in and near the belt

This belt hosts a few Central and public-sector employers that are not subject to local-cadre rules. The Presidential Order governs State civil posts; a Central recruitment is open on its own terms. These are the main ones.

Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC SHAR), Sriharikota

SDSC SHAR is ISRO's launch centre, on the Sriharikota barrier island between the Pulicat lagoon and the Bay of Bengal. It is in Tirupati district, with Sullurpeta the nearest town, though many older books place it under Nellore. ISRO's website carried its recruitment notification SDSC SHAR/RMT/01/2025, with an advertisement date of 16 October 2025 and a last date of 14 November 2025. The posts listed included Scientist or Engineer "SC", Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant, Library Assistant "A", Radiographer "A", Technician "B", Draughtsman "B", Cook, Fireman "A", Light Vehicle Driver "A" and Nurse "B". The vacancy counts and eligibility are in a bilingual advertisement PDF, which this post did not open, so check ISRO's page for numbers rather than relying on third-party summaries. The ISRO "Current Opportunities" page also shows other centres' postings, for example IPRC Mahendragiri and LPSC, which fall in the same family of notices.

For a Nellore or Prakasam aspirant the point is practical. SDSC SHAR recruits periodically, not annually in a fixed month, and its notices use their own application portal; the selection stages (a written test followed by a skill test or interview, as secondary summaries describe) must be read from the advertisement itself. Preparation is technical: diploma or ITI subjects for Technician and Technical Assistant posts, engineering fundamentals for Scientist or Engineer posts. It is a different track from APPSC preparation, and many candidates combine both.

Railways

On 1 June 2026 a new South Coast Railway zone began functioning with its headquarters at Visakhapatnam. As reported by the press and described in Wikipedia, its divisions are Guntakal, Guntur, Vijayawada and a Visakhapatnam division formed from the old Waltair division. The Vijayawada division runs from Duvvada to Gudur, so Ongole, Nellore and Gudur stations are within it. Railway Group D, NTPC and technician posts are recruited through Railway Recruitment Boards under notifications called CEN, and the board allotted to you is shown in the notification. Railway jobs are Central posts, so local status under the Presidential Order does not apply. The zone change may alter which division, or which unit, a new recruit is posted to; check the notification.

Ports and power

Krishnapatnam Port, in Nellore district, is described in the Nellore portal as the district's port and is operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone after a 2020 and 2021 buy-out reported by shipping news sites. It is a private port, so jobs there come through company advertisements, not through a government exam. A thermal station at Nelaturu near Krishnapatnam, associated with APGENCO, is described in Wikipedia with a planned capacity of 1,600 MW and an earlier joint-venture structure. The current ownership and any recruitment must be checked on APGENCO's own site. A new port at Ramayapatnam in Prakasam district has been reported at project-approval stage, but this post found nothing that would let it say jobs have been advertised. Treat these as employment ecosystems, not as exams.

Postal, banking and others

Gramin Dak Sevak, postal assistant and banking recruitments are national or circle-level and are not tied to local status. The Postal GDS guide explains the circle-level logic. Public-sector banks recruit on a national calendar, and candidates from this belt typically take the same exams as everyone else.

8. Exam centres, travel and what to expect

An exam centre is allotted on the basis of the preferences you choose in the application. The Group-I screening test centres reported for earlier APPSC notifications included Ongole and Nellore along with Guntur, Vijayawada, Tirupati and other district headquarters, while the Mains were held at only four cities: Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, Tirupati and Vijayawada. That list was published by an education portal for previous cycles, and this post did not confirm it against the 2026 detailed notification, so verify the cities there before you choose preferences. If the same pattern holds, a candidate from Kavali, Kandukur or Bapatla can take the screening test close to home but should plan for a Mains trip, with accommodation, to Vijayawada or Tirupati.

A few habits make centre allotment less stressful.

  • Choose preference centres by travel time from your town, not by the name of the city you know best. Ongole is easier for much of Prakasam; Nellore for Atmakur, Kavali and Gudur; Guntur for much of Bapatla and Markapuram, depending on the road and train timings.
  • Check the rule on changes. The Commission's notices typically say that once a centre is allotted, it cannot be changed.
  • Reach the area a day earlier for the Mains, and keep photocopies of the hall ticket and identity document.
  • For physical tests in police recruitment, the event centres are announced by the Board separately. Check police physical test preparation before you finalise your training plan.

9. Institutions and the local preparation ecosystem

Institutions in the belt matter for jobs in two ways: as employers and as sources of preparation.

  • Medical education. Government medical colleges operate at Ongole and at Nellore (the ACSR Government Medical College), as listed in education directories. They run teaching hospitals that need doctors, nurses and technicians.
  • Universities and colleges. Vikrama Simhapuri University, the College of Fishery Science at Muthukur and the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management at Golagamudi are listed on the Nellore portal. An Agricultural College at Bapatla serves the agriculture side; the agriculture and irrigation notes carry the context for agricultural exams.
  • Libraries, study circles and coaching. District headquarters have public libraries and government study circles. Use them for newspapers and for silent study hours. Judge any coaching centre on its test schedule and fees, not on its advertising.
  • Technical institutions. Polytechnics and ITIs across the belt feed recruitment for Technician and Technical Assistant posts at central establishments and for APPSC technical posts; see the guide to jobs after B.Tech, diploma or ITI.

Education level shapes which exams you target. If you have just passed Intermediate see jobs after Intermediate; after a degree see jobs after degree.

10. Geography and economy anchors for exam questions

Regional questions in APPSC, police and DSC papers are usually anchored to a place. The following anchors are consistent with the district fact sheet.

  • Prakasam. Ongole is the headquarters; Chimakurthy is known for Black Galaxy granite; the Ramayapatnam area and coast; the western dry belt around Markapuram now belongs to the new district.
  • Nellore. Somasila and Kandaleru reservoirs on the Penna system; Krishnapatnam port and the industrial area; the district's long coast of 163 km as per the portal; mica; Udayagiri wooden cutlery and Paturu cotton silk sarees as listed under the One District One Product scheme on the portal.
  • Bapatla. Surya Lanka beach, Chirala textiles and the Krishna delta fringe, as in the district sheet.
  • Pulicat and Sriharikota. The Pulicat lagoon and the Sriharikota island are now associated with Tirupati district, although some books list Nellore.

For rivers and ports see rivers, dams and irrigation notes, geography notes and the minerals, industries, SEZs and ports notes.

11. A 12-week plan for a belt aspirant

The plan below assumes you have chosen a target within the State system. It is a template, not a promise of results.

  1. Week 1: Fix your status. Collect study certificates, update the OTPR and write down your district, zone and multi-zone in a single line. This determines which notifications are open to you for the 95 per cent block.
  2. Weeks 2 to 3: Choose targets by cadre. If you are at Intermediate or Degree level, list district-cadre posts, zonal posts and multi-zonal posts for which you qualify. Rank them by notification dates in the jobs calendar.
  3. Weeks 3 to 6: Core static subjects. Cover polity, history, geography and economy using the state-specific notes: polity and panchayati raj, reorganisation act, economy and budget and geography.
  4. Weeks 6 to 8: Regional layer. Add the district facts for Prakasam, Nellore, Bapatla and neighbours, with the date-sensitive changes from section 2. Draw the belt from memory and mark rivers, projects and ports.
  5. Weeks 8 to 10: Quantitative and reasoning practice. Use short daily sets and track accuracy, not only the number of questions; see negative marking and mock strategy.
  6. Weeks 10 to 12: Full-length mocks and revision. Write one timed mock every few days and analyse every wrong answer for the cause, not just the right option. See how to study current affairs.

If you also target Central jobs, add a parallel track. Technical aspirants for SDSC SHAR posts should revise the trade or diploma syllabus mentioned in the advertisement, and railway aspirants should follow the Railway Recruitment Board's own syllabus. Keep these tracks separate: the State exams reward state-specific knowledge, whereas Central exams reward speed in general aptitude and technical subjects.

For physical posts such as police constable, fireman or warder, begin training in week 1 and treat it as a daily habit, since the written test and the physical stages run on separate schedules.

12. Common traps for aspirants in this belt

  1. Treating "South Coastal Andhra" as a recruitment unit. The law uses districts, zones and multi-zones.
  2. Assuming Prakasam, Bapatla and Nellore are in different zones. All three are in Zone IV; Tirupati is in Zone V.
  3. Treating Sriharikota as a Nellore place in a current-district question. It is in Tirupati district.
  4. Using a stale portal page to answer a division or mandal question, such as the Kandukur division on the Nellore portal.
  5. Applying the old 70:30 local rule to a notification issued under the 2025 Order. The new split is 95:5.
  6. Assuming local status changes whenever you move house. The study test runs through Class VII.
  7. Assuming Central recruiters apply local status. ISRO, Railways and the banks do not.
  8. Treating private-port or power-plant announcements as government exams.
  9. Forgetting that State-level posts, such as DSP (Communications) in the Group-I notification, are open to all candidates.
  10. Ignoring a notification's treatment of Markapuram and Polavaram.

Key facts for exams

  • As on October 2026, the Presidential Order 2025 groups 26 districts into six zones and two multi-zones (Gazette of India, 15 December 2025; republished by the State on 20 April 2026).
  • Zone IV: Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore. Zone V: Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR Kadapa. Multi-Zone II covers Zones IV, V and VI.
  • District cadre is Junior Assistant and below plus teachers; zonal cadre is above Junior Assistant up to Superintendent and the first-level gazetted post; multi-zonal cadre is above those up to Deputy Collector.
  • Local share of direct recruitment is 95 per cent; 5 per cent is open to a combined merit list.
  • Markapuram and Polavaram, notified 31 December 2025, are not in the Order's Schedule; G.O.Ms.No.46 of 6 July 2026 provides provisional allocation.
  • Prakasam portal: Ongole, Kandukuru and Addanki divisions, 28 mandals. Kandukur moved from Nellore to Prakasam on 31 December 2025.
  • SPSR Nellore: portal gives 163 km of coastline and the Krishnapatnam port; headquarters Nellore.
  • SDSC SHAR advertisement SDSC SHAR/RMT/01/2025 ran 16 October to 14 November 2025.
  • South Coast Railway zone began on 1 June 2026, headquartered at Visakhapatnam; Vijayawada division runs from Duvvada to Gudur.
  • Sriharikota is in Tirupati district.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official region called South Coastal Andhra for recruitment? No. Recruitment uses districts, zones and multi-zones. The nearest unit to the common idea is Zone IV, which includes Prakasam, Bapatla and Nellore and also Guntur and Palnadu.

I am from Markapuram. Which district am I local to? The Presidential Order Schedule does not name Markapuram, and G.O.Ms.No.46 of 6 July 2026 provides provisional allocation of posts to the new districts. Each notification must say how it treats the district. Read it before applying, and ask the recruiting body if it is silent.

Do I need local status for an ISRO or railway job? No. Local status under the Presidential Order applies to State civil posts. ISRO and Railway recruitments are Central and follow their own notifications.

Can a non-local candidate still get a State job here? Yes, through the 5 per cent combined merit list, and through State-level posts that are exempt from local cadres. The chances are narrower than under the old 70:30 pattern.

Which district portal should I follow for jobs? The portal of your own district and, for State exams, the websites of the recruiting bodies. A district portal may be out of date, so use it for notices and certificates but check division and mandal changes in the Government Order.

How many mandals does my district have? Sources disagree, and counts changed on 31 December 2025. Do not memorise totals. If a question needs one, use the number printed in the question's source and its date.

Is Krishnapatnam Port a government employer? It is a private port operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. Jobs there are advertised by the company and are not government exam posts.
