41 | Map case study: north coast and central belt

The sports association map places Jyothi Yarraji at Vizag, on the north coast, from World Athletics' athlete biography. It places Harika Dronavalli at Guntur, in the central belt, from FIDE's profile. Visakhapatnam's District Sports Authority contact point and West Godavari's district authority are institutional markers. Two kinds of symbol appear because a person-place fact and an office-place fact prove different things.

Use the map to practise direction: Vizag is northeast of Guntur, and the West Godavari belt lies between them along the coastward central portion of the state. District boundaries are the current APSDMA outline at the research date; the athlete's birth event occurred long before some administrative labels changed. Do not infer that Jyothi trained only in Vizag or that Harika played only in Guntur. A locator is a starting point for a biography, not the biography itself.

Worked example: On the north-coast and central-belt map, separate athlete-association dots from sports-office rings. Jyothi's Visakhapatnam association is a person-place cue; an office in a district shows an administrative address. Neither alone maps all training venues. Say what each symbol establishes and what additional source a facility claim would require.

Active recall: Place the two sourced athlete associations from northeast to southwest. Which map symbols represent offices?
