09 | Polavaram left and right routes

A main canal carries water out from a project headwork toward its distribution network. Polavaram’s right-side route is discussed in connection with the Krishna system, while its left-side route serves eastern or north-eastern corridors. The exact sanctioned command and construction status belong to dated official project reports, not to the geographic map line.

An inter-basin transfer must name the donor basin, recipient system, route and stage. Water crossing a basin boundary does not make the donor river a tributary of the recipient. Write Godavari and Krishna in separate boxes even where a project links them.

Worked example: Trace Polavaram's left and right canal routes as distinct planned distribution paths. A line drawn on a study map marks general direction; it does not prove continuous operating flow on every segment. When a question asks which area benefits, inspect a project document for the specific command and phase rather than inferring it from the nearest district. Crossings, lifts and connections are distinct engineering links.

Active recall: Locate the named river or project on the relevant map, name its function, and state which facts need a dated source.
