AP Rivers, Dams and Irrigation Projects · Chapter 26
25 | Telugu Ganga network

Telugu Ganga is a multi-stage water-supply and irrigation network linking Krishna-source water, intermediate storage and channels through southern AP toward Chennai. The official Nellore project pages describe the Somasila-Kandaleru route and the Chennai drinking-water purpose. It also has irrigation components; one purpose does not erase the other.

The scheme crosses district and basin boundaries. A named reservoir, canal and head regulator have different functions. Do not call every component a dam or use an old Chittoor label uncritically after Tirupati district was created.

Worked example: The Telugu Ganga network is a multi-link southern water-supply and irrigation arrangement. It includes reservoirs, canals and transfer routes, not one single dam. A question naming Chennai water supply may be testing the scheme's purpose; a question naming Somasila or Kandaleru may be testing component identity. Draw the route step by step and avoid quoting a fixed annual transfer without a dated official statement.

Active recall: Locate the named river or project on the relevant map, name its function, and state which facts need a dated source.
