AP Rivers, Dams and Irrigation Projects · Chapter 15
14 | Krishna enters the project chain

The Krishna basin’s AP project chain can be read upstream-to-downstream: Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar, Pulichintala and Prakasam Barrage near Vijayawada. Each serves different combinations of storage, power, regulation and canal delivery. APWRIMS currently lists them under the Krishna basin, but instantaneous storage changes and must be labelled with date and time.

A downstream barrage is not upstream of Srisailam simply because Vijayawada is more famous. Trace the river line first; then attach current district names and project functions.

Worked example: Follow the Krishna project chain from the upper project area through Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar, Pulichintala and Prakasam Barrage toward the delta. Their names are not interchangeable: the first two are large reservoir landmarks, Pulichintala is downstream of Nagarjuna Sagar, and Prakasam is the delta barrage. An exam item may ask only order. Draw arrows along the river before considering district labels or canal commands.

Active recall: Locate the named river or project on the relevant map, name its function, and state which facts need a dated source.
