AP Rivers, Dams and Irrigation Projects · Chapter 41
40 | Project status ladder

Use six stages: proposal, administrative sanction, construction, partial commissioning, operation and measured delivery. Polavaram’s national-project designation is a legal status; it does not by itself establish completion of all headworks, canals, hydropower and rehabilitation. A 2024 funding approval is a dated fiscal decision, not a 2026 completion certificate.

For every current-affairs project question, underline the status verb. If the stem asks "approved", do not select a choice that means "completed". If it asks delivery, look for measured water or irrigated-area evidence.

Worked example: A project can be proposed, sanctioned, under construction, partly commissioned and delivering water. These are different stages. An announced canal route does not prove completion; an operational headwork does not prove all distribution channels are finished. For Polavaram or a lift scheme, attach the exact reporting date and the metric: civil work, rehabilitation, canal length, water supplied or command irrigated. The status plate is a reading method, not a claim about today's stage.

Active recall: Locate the named river or project on the relevant map, name its function, and state which facts need a dated source.

Project-stage evidence plate

Legal designation, sanction, construction and water delivery need different evidence.

Read this visual

Read each rung as a different kind of evidence. A sanction, built structure and recorded delivery must not be collapsed into one completion claim.

District geometry: APSDMA. River layer: APSAC. Project and status details: credited water-resource agencies.
