AP Rivers, Dams and Irrigation Projects · Chapter 16
15 | Srisailam reservoir

Srisailam is a major Krishna reservoir in a gorge setting near the Nallamala hills. APWRIMS lists it under Krishna and Nandyal in its current reservoir table. The site is also a temple-place name; an irrigation question concerns the dam, reservoir, releases or linked canals, while a culture question concerns pilgrimage.

The reservoir may influence both sides of an interstate boundary and several downstream projects. Do not confuse gross capacity at full reservoir level with current storage, live storage or daily inflow. These are different columns and units.

Worked example: Srisailam is both a Krishna reservoir and a major temple destination. The water-project answer depends on the river, storage and hydropower role; the temple question depends on religious geography. Keep those two associations distinct. A map point near a district boundary may be shown in different administrative contexts, so a river-based location is more reliable for a general project question. Storage today must be read from APWRIMS.

Active recall: Locate the named river or project on the relevant map, name its function, and state which facts need a dated source.
