21 | Pothireddypadu head regulator

Pothireddypadu is an important regulator or offtake associated with Krishna water from the Srisailam system toward Telugu Ganga and Rayalaseema-side routes. A head regulator controls entry into a canal; it is not the source river itself. The Somasila project circle explicitly refers to Krishna water received from Pothireddypadu for onward transfer.

Draw Srisailam as a storage node, Pothireddypadu as an offtake and Somasila or Kandaleru as later nodes in the transfer chain. Exact allocations and seasonal release rules are dated regulatory matters.

Worked example: Pothireddypadu is a head regulator associated with the Krishna-to-southern water route. It is not a reservoir and should not be placed on a separate Penna river line merely because southern beneficiaries are discussed. The regulator controls entry to a conveyance system. When a question asks for capacity or release, the answer depends on a specific date, operating condition and official measurement.

Active recall: Locate the named river or project on the relevant map, name its function, and state which facts need a dated source.
